The Rev. Bill
Russell recently “retired” as the interim Rector of St. Matthew’s in Henderson,
TX. He plans to move to Galveston (to be near his daughter, Mary Kilgore) and
has agreed to join our Grace staff as an Assistant Priest. Fr. Russell is
looking forward to being part of our Grace family, and we are blessed that he
wants to share his gifts of ministry with us.
Fr. Russell was ordained in 1955, and has served in many different dioceses in
the United States. He believes that he probably holds the record for the most
interims served by one priest (14). Fr. Russell also had the great pleasure of
serving at a large Anglican parish in Durham, England for two years His longest
single cure was twelve years as Rector of St. Stephen’s in Wichita Falls. While
in Wichita Falls, he also taught European history at Midwestern State
University.
Christian formation and pastoral care are the two aspects of the ordained
vocation that he loves the best, and Grace is blessed that he is not yet ready
to fully retire and desires to continue to share those ministries with us.
