November 2010

As the Holy Spirit fills us, we fill our community around us! Despite the continued challenges, we at Grace Church are filled with the loving Spirit of Christ, seeking the betterment of our church life together and in the Galveston community.
We are continually moving ahead by preparing for our Thanksgiving Feast on the Sunday before Thanksgiving and the ADA banquet in early December. Much of our time and talent will be involved in helping our fellow parishioners as well as members of the community around us.
Participation in many projects (something for everyone) is constantly needed in order that we may again reach out in our efforts to help those less fortunate. The God-given gifts allowing us to give our time, talents, and treasure are within us. Let the SPIRIT fill OUR hearts!
The Wednesday Bible Study is now going on; Parables are made even easier to understand. Lenten suppers and Study will be with us in the spring of 2011. The Boy Scouts are active and can always use assistance. The Bell Tower needs contributors (poems, stories, words of grace and thoughtfulness); Gleanings from the Harvest needs volunteers again. The "Over 55's" can always use additional help. In addition, ministries such as Altar Guild, our wonderful Choir, adult and children's education, acolytes and hospitality can always use willing workers.
Christ calls us to the needs of others. The SPIRIT is within us. Bring it to the surface through our individual and group effort and Grace will continue to share our SPIRIT with Christ at our side. As in years past, this letter signifies the kick-off of our 2011 stewardship season. As you prayerfully consider how to share your treasure with Christ in 2011, please also consider how you can further share your time and talent.
The enclosed survey has a place for you to fill in the Grace ministries that most interest you. Thank you for participating in this survey; your input is very helpful to the church leadership for planning the upcoming year.
Some Parishioners will share their SPIRIT with us during the services on October 31, November 7, and November 14, and ending with Fr. Paul on Stewardship Sunday, November 21, 2010. We look forward with you to a SPIRIT-filled stewardship season.
Yours in Christ,
Bill Watson
