LIKE A PELICAN RISING . . .
Dear Grace Church Family,
We are like a Pelican rising from the waves! Despite the challenges of the past year, nearly overwhelming to us all, we are Grace Church Rising, seeking the betterment of our church life together and in the Galveston community.
We are moving ahead by preparing for our Thanksgiving Feast on the Sunday before Thanksgiving and the ADA banquet in early December. Much of our time and talent will be involved in helping our fellow parishioners as well as members of the community around us.
Participation in many projects (something for everyone) is needed and we must grow again in our efforts to help those less fortunate. The God-given gifts allowing us to give our time, talents, and treasure are within us. Raise them up and let them fill the heavens!
The Wednesday Bible Study is now going on, Lenten suppers and Study will be with us in the spring. The Boy Scouts are active and can always use assistance. The Bell Tower needs contributors (poems, stories, words of grace and thoughtfulness), Gleanings from the Harvest needs volunteers again, the “Over 55’s” can always use additional help. In addition, ministries such as Altar Guild, adult and children’s education, and hospitality are looking for willing workers.
Christ calls us to the needs of others. Our Pelican is on the rise and only through our individual and group effort will Grace soar again with Christ at our side. As in years past, this letter signifies the kick-off of our 2010 stewardship drive. As you prayerfully consider how to share your treasure with Christ in 2010, please also consider how you can further share your time and talent. The enclosed survey has a place for you to mention the Grace ministries that most interest you. Please indicate the ministries in which you would like to increase your contribution of time and talent in 2010.
Yours in Christ,
Bill Watson
