ANNUAL BBQ/AUCTION SOON

Dear members of Grace Church,

Our wonderful celebration of Easter is now past and it is time to get to work on the Spring Barbecue.  The date is Saturday, May 3, 2008.

Linda Singleton will be heading up the silent auction and will need as many contributions as possible.  Time to clean out your house of the nice things that you are willing to give that others might enjoy. Also of interest are trips and restaurant meal certificates,

The tickets will be, hopefully, ready to distribute Sunday March 30, and we will need everyone to help get the 850 distributed as quickly as possible.

Barbecue has been ordered and we will again deliver dinners free on the Island to those that call in by 10:00 A.M. on Saturday. Dinners are $7.50 and include chicken or beef plus beans, potato salad and bread. All we need is more volunteers and plenty of ticket sellers.  We will ask everyone to take 10 tickets, or more, to start with.  We only have a month to get them sold. Galvestonians have been wonderful in supporting this event, and we look forward to making it the best one yet! Drinks and desserts will be sold in Jinkins Hall and Grace has pledged a portion of our proceeds to The Salvation Army for their new building.

Kenny Wegner has agreed to gather up all of our meat cutters, Nancy Wilkes and Janice Rhymes have agreed to help me in the delivery kitchen and Laura Hyatt will do the kitchen in the parish hall if she is not at the Nationals meet.  We will get that together quickly.

Your support and help will be greatly appreciated.
Yours in Christ, Pat Brown, Event Chair

It is that wonderful BBQ time of year again and the Silent Auction is an important and fun part of our BBQ tradition.  Linda Singleton is asking for help.  Everyone can help by stopping at your favorite store and/or restaurant for a gift certificate or item for the Silent Auction.  Or, you could offer a coupon for services such as baking a cake, cookies, or other dessert once a month for 3 months; pet-sitting for a weekend; washing a car; power spraying a driveway, etc.  The more fun and unique items we present, the better opportunities to increase our funds for our community outreach programs.

Last year, we had an airplane ride over the Gulf of Mexico, a bird watching bay cruise and a wine tasting party, just to name a few.  We can hardly wait to see what this year will bring!

Please bring your auction items to the church during office hours.  The sooner you bring your items, the easier it will be to have a well-organized auction.  Thank you in advance for your support.
